USIM adopts the philosophy of integrating
naqli
and
aqli
knowledge. This integration permeates the entire
activities of USIM encompassing teaching-learning, research, community engagement and health care
services. It has successfully developed a unique model of integration of
naqli
and
aqli.
This book takes us on a journey to explore the challenges and experiences of the Faculty of Dentistry in
developing a curriculum based on USIM’s Model of Integration of
Naqli
and
Aqli.
The integration of naqli
and aqli knowledge for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Programme, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia
(USIM) is to produce safe dental practitioners who are able to practice independently and infused with
Islamic values. It describes the involvement of the faculty members in harmonising their courses in
accordance with this conceptual framework of the curriculum.
This book is envisaged to be useful for all educators who are interested in designing or reviewing their
curriculum based on USIM’s Model of Integration of
Naqli
and
Aqli.
It provides a succinct description of the
conceptual framework in the design of a curriculum that also incorporates the Outcome-based education
(OBA) approach and blended learning in a curriculum for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery programme.

The higher institutions nowadays faced an extremely competitive competition from others institutions, in which they also need to
cope with the demand and the expectation of the people surrounding them. Some of the value that is used to be held in the higher
institutions seems to be forgotten just for the sake of profit or even for self advancement. This book will discuss The Humaniversity,
a concept that discusses the humanity, knowledge andmoderation in the higher institutions. Through the concept of Humaniversity,
readers will be exposed to the correlation between Humaniversity and theory, spiritual philosophy and historical discourse. This will
bring readers to the Islamic concepts of Adab, which will be briefly discussed in the book.
