These Publication Guidelines, Policies and Rules are provided for the purpose of assisting the USIM Publications Committee and USIM Press to carry out their functions and responsibilities effectively and efficiently to develop and enhance of academic publications at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. In addition, these guidelines provide clearer information to those interested in publishing their work with USIM Press.

The textbooks publication is one of the important targets in helping to increase and enhance the number of publications for teaching and learning. Each USIM textbook publication can only be published in the two main languages used as the medium instruction at USIM, namely English and Arabic. Textbooks in Malay can only be published for programs that use Malay as the medium instruction.

Karya asli (scholarly/general) are among the authored works published to meet the needs of teaching and learning, benefit the community, reflect the expertise and excellence of staff and as well as determine the uniqueness of the university. Karya asli submitted must be based on research and studies that are structured in a formal form that displays new, original ideas and respect the rights of others through citations and references, refereed and comply with publication standards.

Ulum Islamiyyah Journal (UIJ) is a refereed journal published by Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) annually in April, August and December. Its main objective is to promote, enhance and contribute to an inclusive understanding of Islam and Muslim in contemporary world. UIJ publishes original research based articles, concept papers, review papers, case studies, book reviews in English, Arabic and Malay, in the area of social science and humanities, science and technology, arts and literature, that relates directly or indirectly to Islam and Muslim world under the framework of integration of naqli and aqli knowledge.

The publications by faculty/PTJ is a monitored publication and involvement from the faculty/PTJ in providing certain materials or inputs. The manuscript consists of teaching and learning materials, materials from seminars and certain committees as well as the publication of general books related to the faculty/PTJ (Pusat Kebudayaan which publishes many poetry compilation).

Research books have a special role in the academic world, especially in the broader context of scientific publishing. Research books have a primary role in the development of knowledge across various fields. The outcomes of research contribute to new discoveries and innovative concepts. Through research books, the results of investigations become accessible to the public, expanding the impact of the research and benefiting society as a whole.
