USIM TRANSLATION GRANT

“This work was published through the USIM (Islamic Science University of Malaysia) Translation Grant.”

The USIM Translation Grant aims to encourage overseas publishers from all over the world to translate and publish USIM publications. It also aims to further promote USIM’s works in other languages translated from their original language. USIM press hopes that the move to establish this translation grant will increase the presence of USIM’s works in the global market and thus, promote greater reach in other markets.

DUE DATE FOR APPLICATION: 30 NOVEMBER EVERY YEAR

CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATION:

  1. The translation grant is open to all overseas publishers interested in translating only USIM works into other languages.

  2. Application for the translation grant is open only once a year and the final date for application is 30 November every year.

  3. Translation of the intended work must be 30 per cent completed of the entire work or completed at least up to Chapter 2.

  4. The translated edition must be published within 12 months of the date of grant approval/receipt.

  5. Only successful recipients of the translation grant will be notified via e-mail.

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY:

  1. The applicant must be from a publishing company recognised in the applicant’s country.

  2. The applicant must have published at least 20 translated titles from its total number of publications.

  3. The applicant must possess competent distribution and marketing networks.

  4. The agreement on copyright/licence must be signed beforehand and subsequently, the process for translation grant application may commence with USIM.

EVALUATION:

  1. All applications will be screened and approved by the selection committee appointed by USIM.

  2. Evaluation of application takes three (3) to six (6) months of application to USIM.

  3. The panel’s decision is final.

ALLOCATION & DISBURSEMENT:

  1. Successfully awarded the USIM Translation Grant shall receive RM3,000 (maximum) for each title.

  2. Payment shall be disbursed twice:

– 50% after the application has been approved.

– 50% after the book has been published.
